One of the worst security lapses of the modern era

Lots of questions; very few answers

I’ve been reading Jeffrey Goldberg’s piece in The Altantic this afternoon with a mixture of bemusement and disbelief. Goldberg was seemingly added to a group on Signal by Mike Waltz, the National Security Advisor two weeks ago, to discuss the build-up to, and the logistics behind the US strike on Houthi positions that gained much media coverage just over a week ago.

The group, called Houthi PC small group, was set up to discuss the strikes. Goldberg assumed he was being set up or spoofed when he received an invitation to join - fearing (not surprisingly) that either he, The Atlantic, or both, were being set up.

I’m not quite sure where to start. But four things stand out.
