It was a tricky afternoon: those of us who work on Iran, Turkey, the Middle East, Russia, Ukraine, China, India and Pakistan (who nearly went to war just a month ago) find ourselves wondering if we have chosen the right or the wrong subject.
Add in the fact that one of my most beloved ones was on their approach approach into Doha as Qatar closed its airspace as missiles were launched against the US base at al-Udeid while trying to assess what was happening in real time while on the move myself, and it’s been one of those days I’ll be pleased to see come to a close.
Seeing anti-missile fire in the skies above Doha has been truly incredible. Thankfully, flights were diverted safely - in our family’s case, to Riyadh.
Here are my thoughts on what happened today. Of course, it’s a hot take; but sometimes those are right.
